Diagnosed with GERD-which was silent- and celiac disease with Barrett’s esophagus in Feb. 2013. Went to have a 2nd endoscopy in Nov 2014. Barrett’s had disappeared! Has anyone had a similar experience? Wondering if I was misdiagnosed or if it does heal? From what I have read it is something you always have once diagnosed. Any input would be helpful! Thx

I believe Barrett’s can reverse with treatment; follow up endoscopy 2 years after my diagnosis and treatment revealed no evidence of Barrett’s remaining.

So glad to hear it. I was told once you have it you can only have it removed with a laser. I had a surgeon do my first endoscopy and a GI do my second. So I was thinking it was a misdiagnosis.
Thx
Jones5b Have you ever had an endoscopy after you began treatment to see if its improving?

Yes. Barrett\’s had disappeared… I thought once you had it you always had it!
so if it has “disappeared” what does your doctor say to do next?
I will have another endoscopy in January or Feb…I am on 40mg of generic nexium once a day…I have been diagnosed with chronic GERD. I am very careful with my diet but cannot control it thru diet alone.
Sounds like you are on the right track; wish you the best with your next endoscopy and hope to hear that things have cleared.

Thanks!
