A great question; Xifaxan was only recently approved by the FDA for use in IBS and experience outside of the clinical studies that led to its approval seems pretty limited. My guess is that it helps some but not others and it really needs to be tried on an individual basis. I too would love to hear anyones experience in taking the drug for IBS.

Thank you for our quick reply. My GI Doctor said he thought it was a great drug but quite expensive and not always picked up through Insurance.
As to my understanding Xifaxan is a antibody that supposedly cleans out the bad bacteria in the gut.
My gastro problems are a weak colon muscle which after a colonoscopy showed some irregularity in the shape. Also I had a bacterial infection about a year ago called CDFF for which I was successfully treated.
The good news at the moment is I tried Trifala Hebal and Magnesium
Citrate. I took two pills morning and after dinner. It produced results
On the second day. I think I may have to adjust the pills because it may have been to much. What do you advise?
Thank you Charles for the link to this report.
I read that the herb Triphala was very effective in relieving constipation. I have used it twice, 2 pills and have found it proved results within a couple of hours. Unfortunately it worked while I was sleeping.
I don’t feel it gave me a normal movement. What is your knowledge on the reaction and results of this herb?
