New to Gastroparesis

Posted by scmartinez37 @scmartinez37, Aug 28, 2021

So recently I started to feel symptoms of Gastroparesis. I am a type 1 diabetic and if I am going to be honest, not too good at taking care of myself.

I am scheduled to take a few tests this month and next, but I am pretty sure I know what I have.

I went to the ER so they can diagnose me, but they told me that they believe it could be a stomach virus or gastritis, but I’m pretty sure it was gastroparesis. In any case, I’m waiting for those tests to see the results

Please please PLEASE….if you are a diabetic and you are not taking care of yourself, you will end up like me. Please find support with friends and family. I am not 100% sure what to do or how to move forward, so I’m hoping someone can give some advice.

Thanks

I am a diabetic and took pretty good care of it. But my voice was getting very course. EGD later and after not eating for a day and a half my stomach was still full. Next test was the barium test to watch how fluids digest, it was slow but ok. Today I had the gastric emptying test with radioactive meal and watch how your stomach digest the food. After four hours my stomach had only emptied 6%. So that's the course of tests. Now I am basically on a liquid diet, no fats, no fiber, no raw fruits or vegetables. On top of that if your diabetic, no carb. I also have dairy and gluten allergies. I'm at my wits end on trying to figure out what I can eat.

I researched the gastroparesis diet on-line it really helped me.. I have really been following it and if I eat just 1 thing I shouldn't my stomach will start hurting and with the nausea again.
