Trying to decide whether i want to be “put out” for my colonoscopy or not; would like to hear from others that have elected to remain “conscious” during the procedure. Did you have much discomfort?

Charles, I have had a colonoscopy in he past without medication. While it was years ago and maybe the equipment has changed, my advice is to take advantage of being ‘put out’. My experience was that is was such a painful procedure that I did not have another one for 50 years when being ‘put out’ was an option. JMHO. Good luck.

@charles, I’m pretty sure you don’t have a choice. They probably will use propafol, so you will be out. One minute you’re chatting with a nurse and the next thing you know you will back in the room they prepped you in. It is so easy and no pain at all! Don’t be afraid. The worst thing is the inconvenience of the bowel cleansing, but you are in the comfort of your own home for that. Hope everything goes well for you.
