Results of a year-long study published in the Annals of Internal Medicine comparing the effects of low-carbohydrate and low-fat diets on body weight and cardiovascular risk factors recently revealed that the low-carbohydrate diet is more effective for both weight loss and cardiovascular risk factor reduction. However, additional research published subsequently in the Journal of the American Medical Association showed that a variety of dietary approaches to weight loss will deliver results; the key factor is a person's commitment to the diet.
